Kim Ogg is recognized nationally and well-known locally as a criminal law expert and crime victims' advocate, often featured in the local and national news. Kim believes that ordinary citizens possess the ability to affect public safety and the quality of life in our community. Because of her dedication to justice as an attorney, she has excelled at championing the rights of both the people and the accused in nearly 100 jury trials.
Kim K. Ogg is a graduate of Memorial High School, the University of Texas, and South Texas College of Law. She was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1987 and was hired by the Harris County District Attorney's Office where she rose to the level of a Chief Felony Prosecutor. Her high profile prosecutions of criminal street gang members in the early 1990's led to her appointment by Mayor Bob Lanier as the City of Houston's Gang Task Force Director in 1994. During her tour with the City of Houston, gang crime in the City of Houston dropped by more than 40%. From 1999- 2006 Kim Ogg was the Executive Director of Crime Stoppers of Houston, the most successful anonymous crime tips hotline and cash reward program in the world, responsible for the capture of more than 20,000 criminals for more than 25,000 violent crimes.
During her career in public safety and public service, Ms. Ogg conducted more than 1,500 media interviews and received numerous awards including the Distinguished Crime Victim Service Award from the Texas Dept. of Criminal Justice in May, 2006 and the Foundation for the Improvement of Justice Award in 1998. She has served on the Board of Directors for various professional and civic organizations, including most recently the South Texas College of Law Alumni Association.
In June 2006, Kim Ogg returned to the practice of law. Areas of practice include white collar criminal defense, governmental and private forensic investigation, and business litigation. Ms. Ogg is Board Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and offers more than 19years of unique legal, governmental and media experience to firm clients.
