Stop the Sale of Murderabilia

I would like to extend a sincere thank you for emceeing our recent press conference regarding the Stop the Sale of Murderabilia to Protect the Dignity of Crime Victims Act 0f 2010. The press conference was a great success and its coverage brought much needed attention to push this important legislation through Congress, and I intend to pursue its passage until the Murderabilia industry collapses.

Of course, we would not have made such great successes if it were not for you and Andy Kahan's work to identify this problem and bring it to my attention. Both of your efforts to fight this heinous industry have been extremely valuable and I look forward to working with you until this legislation is signed into law.

 Sincerely,

 John Cornyn

BACKGROUND ON LEGISLATION:

Sen. Cornyn’s legislation seeks to cripple the Murderabilia industry by preventing prisoners from mailing, or having another person mail, any object the prisoner intends to be sold in interstate commerce. The bill provides a civil remedy to murderabilia victims, allowing them to recover injunctive relief, damages, and reasonable attorney’s fees from violators of the bill and removing the financial incentive for prisoners to sell murderabilia. Sen. Cornyn introduced a previous version of this legislation in 2007. U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar is the lead Democratic cosponsor of the bill.
